$100 Million Jomoro Goldmining Project Inaugurated

The Divisional Chief and people of Jomoro in the Aowin Municipal Assembly in the Western North Region on Saturday September 20th officially inaugurated Jomoro Mining Group LTD.

Nana Kwame Nkansah II, Jomorohene and also the Chief Executive Officer of the Jomoro Mining Group LTD expressed his gratitude to the citizens and government for making the inaugural initiative a successful one.

Nana Kwame Nkansah II called for the support of the citizens especially the Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the area to enable him work hard to sustain the developmental goals of Jomoro through a responsible small-scale mining.

According to him the $100 million mining project which is spearheaded by the Jomoro Mining Group Ltd is collaborated with Eureka Etoes Mining Services Ltd.

The two mining firms he stated are aimed at creating over 5,000 jobs for the youth of Jomoro in the Aowin Municipality and beyobd.

Nana Kwame Nkansah II appealed to Nananom and the good people of the Jomoro Community to join hands with forces in protecting the area’s natural resources which includes the forest reserves, water bodies, cocoa farms and other properties for the sake of future generation.

Jomorohene disclosed that his vision towards the success of the Jomoro Mining Group Ltd are aimed at changing the face of the indigenous ways of mining to a modern technology form to increase productivity with an easier methods for land reclaimation.

On his part, the Western North Regional Minister Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum who stood in for the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah in his address said it was the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to help those who are in the mining sector especially the artisanal miners.

To become small scale miners by bringing programs and projects to help them acquire the skills and knowledge in the work they have been doing and do it in the right way.

The Minister noted that Community Mining policy was purposely initiated to help curb illegal mining activities (galamsey) in the country.

This is the reason why government would continue to support the small and medium scaje mining companies to ensure sustainable mining in the mining communities,, the Minister indicated.

He emphasized that the Jomoro Mining Group mining project was the first of its kind in the Jomoro area which was coming to open the doors of many others in the mining industry in the Western North region.

He also indicated that the Municipality was lucky to get such alluvial mining opportunity to help create more jobs for the youth and also curb the devastating illegal mining activities (galamsey) in the Aowin Municipality and beyond.

He expressed his appreciation that the good people of the Municipality have embrace the mining policies brought by President John Dramani Mahama, the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, and the leadership of the Minerals Commission to ensure job creations to sustainable the lives of the youth in the Municipality.

Dr. Prince Hayford, a Senior Team Member of Irica Etoes Mining Services in his speech noted that the purpose and goals of the $100 million project is to create job opportunities for the people of Jomoro Community and those who are interested to do business with them.

He assured further that the Company will be law abiding by following all the approved protocols to be tended by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission to enable them engage in proper and responsible mining

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, the Omanhene of the Aowin Traditional Council who chaired the occasion stressed the need for the people to remain focused and responsible to track down illegal miners for prosecution.

Nana noted that the illegal miners are aims at destroying the lands and water bodies and go unpunished hence his call to pursue them

Entreating everyone to join the crusade against the galamsey fight, Nana charged Nananom to play their roles as leaders of their communities by ensuring that the right things are done to safeguard the water bodies and forest reserves in their areas.

Daasebre Ewusi concluded with a call on Ghanaians to protect our water bodies and seek a responsible mining to take place at all times.
