12 alleged occultists grabbed in the act of dumping human body into the sea in Sekondi

The Sekondi Police Command arrested 11 men and a woman suspected of being members of an occult society who allegedly threw a human body into the sea at Takoradi-Nkontompo.

Narrating the incident, an eyewitness said that they saw four cars arrive at the Takoradi-Nkontompo beach. The 12 later dropped a sack into the sea. The community members who saw them suspected it was a human body.

In a Facebook video , an eyewitness said they confronted the suspects and prevented them from leaving the scene.

“When we caught them, they tried to offer us money so they could leave, but we quickly blocked their path and alerted the traditional authorities and the police,” an eyewitness said.

The 12 suspects were wearing a white shirts with a seven-pointed star in a circle behind it. They all had yellow stoles around their necks.

A seven-pointed star, or heptagram, holds diverse meanings across cultures and traditions, often symbolising spiritual completeness, divine perfection, and the balance of cosmic forces. Its unbroken form also signifies eternity.

A day after the incident, the Assemblyman of Nkontompo , Honourable Frederick, said the traditional rulers of the area will conduct some rites on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the beach.

He added that he did not see the content in the sack but found out it was not a human being.

“I asked them questions when I came. They told me they came for the funeral of one of their members at Nkroful junction. Per their rules, when a member passes, they dispose of their attire for worshipping in the group. They also do not want others to touch the attire, and that is why they threw it in the sea.”

The Assemblyman said the police granted them bail and asked them to report to the station on Monday, August 25, 2025, for further investigations.
