The political landscape of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region has received a significant boost with the endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the preferred flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
According to the chairman of the Ashanti Npp Identifiable Group, Mr Mark Obeng, he and his supporters find it prudent to throw their full weight behind the former Vice president to become the next presidential candidate of Npp to face the Ndc in the next elections.
Speaking to the correspondent in an interview Mark Obeng noted that despite previous defeat of the party in 2024, Dr Mahamoud Bawumia posses unique qualities that quality him to lead the Npp towards victory in the 2028 elections.
He described the former president as humble, respectful, unifier and a policy oriented politicians who can deliver up to expectation when the delegates give him the mandate .
Mr Mark Obeng who also serves as the chairman of the Kumasi Kajetia PZ Npp Retailers Association conceded the fact that although all other contestants in the Npp flagbearershlp race are politically matured and qualified to lead the party.
However the party has reached at a crucial stage where a more politically famous and a marketable politician should be made to lead the party and that person is no one than than Bawumia who is known everywhere in the country and beyond.
Obeng, also a polling stations agents chairman of the Asuofua Npp of the Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency observed that the party’s agenda is centred on the 2028 victory and it is important members should smoke peace pipes to reflect the victory they anticipate.
Whilst declaring his unflinching support for Dr Mahamoud Bawumia he strongly advise the delegates also to vote massively for Bawumia when time is up so that with unity we work hard to boot out President Mahama from the Jubilee House and open a new but progressive chapter to set Ghanaians free from the current economic challenges that have been facing the citizenry Mark Obeng concluded.
