Former Vice President and leading figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has appointed former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, as Co-Chairman of the party’s Employment and Jobs Policy Committee.

The appointment is seen as part of the NPP’s broader efforts to strengthen its policy framework on job creation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth ahead of upcoming political activities and national discussions on unemployment.
According to party sources, the Employment and Jobs Policy Committee is expected to focus on developing practical strategies aimed at addressing Ghana’s unemployment challenges, particularly youth joblessness, skills development, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Kennedy Agyapong, known for his outspoken personality and strong advocacy for entrepreneurship and industrialization, is expected to bring private sector experience and business-oriented ideas to the committee. Over the years, the former lawmaker has consistently emphasized the need for job creation through local investment, manufacturing, and support for indigenous businesses.

Political analysts believe his inclusion alongside other party officials could help shape policies that resonate with Ghanaian youth and business communities, especially at a time when employment remains one of the country’s most pressing issues.
Dr. Bawumia has repeatedly highlighted digital transformation, industrial growth, and innovation as key pillars of his economic vision. The establishment and strengthening of policy committees within the NPP are viewed as part of preparations to refine the party’s policy agenda and governance proposals.
Party supporters have welcomed the appointment, describing it as a strategic move that combines Dr. Bawumia’s economic expertise with Kennedy Agyapong’s business background and grassroots appeal.
