The call, emerging from the party’s Ashanti Regional stronghold comes in the wake of the escalating tensions regarding the selection of polling station agents and internal electoral processes.

Supporters of Kennedy Agyepong indicate that the party’s current trajectory is becoming increasingly unattractive to the electorates and threatens its chances of winning victory in the 2028 general elections.

Aggrieved members pointed to what they described as a deliberate attempt to create unnecessary confusions in the Npp by certain party big shots to serve personal political ambitions.

According to these supporters, the NPP has drifted from its democratic principles citing the unprecedented disqualification of genuine party stalwarts, flawed vetting process and restricted distribution of nomination forms as a clear indicators of a failing system.

The intransparency within the NPP is becoming too much, Wilberforce Forson a staunch loyalist of Hon. Kennedy Agyepong together with party cronies stated in an interview.

How can these actions bring us victory, he asked and stressed that they cannot waste their time and energy to witness doom in the 2028 elections.

This is the reason why we of the Kennedy Agyepong’s camp are demanding that our brother and mentor Hon. Kennedy Agyepong should forms a new party to wrestle powe from the Ndc in the next elections.

Our dissatisfaction is not confined to the Ashanti Region alone but also the similar unrest that have been surfacing from other regions across the country.

Another supporter from Agyepong ‘s camp Peter Akrofi of Ashanti Agona mentioned places like Ashanti Mampong, Oforikrom, Obuasi, Kumawu, and Kwabere Kenyase as some of Npp constituencies that have been hit by electoral confusions and tensions in the Polling Station Agents elections.

Furthermore discontent and misunderstanding in the same Polling Station Agents elections have erupted in the Tarkwa branch of the Npp in the Western region resulting to massive demonstration against party leaders who are reportedly behind the tensions in the area.

The Tarkwa demonstration held on Thursday May 21, 2026 and still ongoing at the time of filling the reports, accusations continue to unfold on why certain executives conduct themselves as if Npp is their personal property rather than a national institution.

Peter Akrofi who was deeply involved in Agyepong’s flagbearership campaign noted that the grievances currently being voiced out are merely an extension of the dirty politics witnessed during the party’s recent internal flagbearership elections which saw the defeat of Kennedy Agyepong.

The pro Agyepong faction believes that the current NPP leadership has alienated the grassroots and making it impossible for the party to compete effectively against the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming polls.

Therefore supporters of Kennedy Agyepong remain resolute and are prepared to work hard for victory but it must be under the leadership who genuinely cares for the welfare of all Ghanaians.

If Hon. Kennedy Agyepong leads a new movement we are ready to follow him aggrieved Npp activists indicated.

As of now, Hon. Kennedy Agyepong has not issued an official response to the demands of his supporters.

However political analysts suggest that these calls may place a significant pressure on the NPP’s national executive to address internal transparency issues before the situation leads to a fractured voter base ahead of the 2028 elections.
