Internal tensions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have reached a boiling point as Daniel Agyenim Boateng, a former Ashanti Regional Organizer and current aspirant for the position of National Organizer has publicly called for the immediate dismissal of Hon. Kennedy Agyepong.
Mr. Boateng’s demand comes amid growing concerns that the party’s internal discipline is crumbling.
He indicated that the former Assin Central lawmaker’s persistent public criticisms and the leaking of sensitive party intelligence are not only detrimental to the NPP’s organizational integrity but it also serve as a direct threat to the party’s electoral fortunes in the 2028 general elections.
The Catalyst: Public Outbursts and “Washing Dirty Linen:
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the aspiring National Organizer expressed deep frustration over Hon. Kennedy Agyepong’s recent conduct during media appearances on Onua FM and Net 2 Television.
Mr. Boateng described himself as being “stunned” by the nature of the remarks made by the former MP and questioned whether Mr. Agyepong remains committed to the core ideologies and principles of the NPP.
If any member of the party feels aggrieved or believes the party has failed them there are established internal mechanisms to seek redress behind closed doors,Boateng stated.
Instead we see a disturbing trend where internal matters are taken to the public to the contrary to the party’s constitution.
Washing our dirty linen in the public does not strengthen the party; it weakens our standing in the eyes of the Ghanaian electorate., he observed.
A Call for Decisive Action:
Mr. Boateng highlighted the irony of a high ranking member who has benefited significantly from the party’s platform over the years and being the same individual who is consistently leading efforts to bring the party’s reputation into disrepute.
Education and discipline play a vital role in party organization, Boateng noted.
I possess the same inside knowledge and could easily expose internal secrets, but my principles and dedication to the party’s survival constrain me.
Why Hon. Agyepong feels he is above these constraints?
For Boateng the threshold for tolerance has been crossed.
He stressed that for the NPP to successfully break the eight and occupy the Jubilee House seat of the presidency in the 2028 elections, the party must prioritize sanity and internal cohesion.
Mr Daniel Agyenim Boateng on this note is tasking the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Npp to initiate expulsion proceedings against Kennedy Agyepong insistin that the party is bigger than any single individual who affiliates himself with it.
Stakes for 2028
The aspiring National Organizer emphasized that the NPP’s path to victory in 2028 relies heavily on the ability of its leadership to enforce the party’s constitution without fear or favor.
He warned that if the party continue to tolerate public antagonism from its own stalwarts, it risks alienating the grassroots and moderate voters who are looking for a united front.
