Security agencies have intercepted a cache of weapons during a joint physical inspection at the Takoradi Integrated Terminal (TIT).The inspection, conducted on container No. TIIU5055870 declared under BOE No. 41026792479, uncovered a black bag containing:
Six (6) Mini Gap pistols
One (1) Bruni 96 automatic pistol
One (1) Bruni Model 84 pistol
Eight (8) packs of blank cartridges, each containing fifty
The exercise was carried out by a joint team comprising officers from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), National Security and TIT operators.
The items were identified in the presence of the declarant, Royal Frontline Logistics Limited, and the importer, Alhassan Musah.
Due to adverse weather conditions and the late hour, the team suspended further examination of the container, securing it with seal numbers Y008621 and 216211. A full 100% physical examination was scheduled for the following morning.
The seized items, together with the bag, were transferred under Seizure Notice No. 0027834 to the GRA Customs Division Collection Armoury for safekeeping and further investigation.
The Regional Police was promptly informed, and the Regional Crime Officer documented the details of the seizure and suspects for ongoing investigations.
Authorities have assured the public that thorough investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the importation of the weapons.
