Robbers mistake bread for cash… Return to kill pregnant woman
Two alleged robbers, who mistook a loaf of bread wrapped in a handbag for a bundle of cash, returned to kill the wife of their victim when they realised that their booty was a mere breakfast staple.
These good-for-nothing citizens had attacked 42-year-old Raymond Suglo, a businessman, and his wife at Jang in the Nadowli-Kaloe District in the Upper West Region around 9:30 p.m. last Monday.
Mr Suglo was returning from his shop when the robbers arrived on a motorbike wielding a gun and knives.
The couple managed to step into the safer confines of their room but before they could lock up, the robbers engaged them in a battle to force the door open while their children were in the bedroom.
In the process of their struggling the robbers spotted a handkerchief which was wrapped with an object but thinking that the object was money they quickly took possessions of it after which they run away with it.
But luck run out of them when they later realized that the supposed booty was just a loaf of bread.
Therefore becoming angry about the contents they allegedly returned back to the house only to meet the pregnant woman who was instantly killed.
At press time, police had launch investigations into the case for action.
