Postpone opening of school for SHS one students to January 2, 2024.
Gomoa Senior High Technical School, Gomoa Dawurampong’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Secretary, Mr. Edward Acquah also known as Fayah, is urging the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the government to postpone the opening of school for SHS one students to January 2, 2024.
According to him, the current schedule, which requires students to report on December 4, celebrate Christmas at home until December 21, and return to school on January 2, 2024, places undue pressure on parents.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Acquah emphasized that the short timeframe between receiving placement results and the December 4 start date would create challenges for parents in purchasing necessary materials and arranging for their children’s attendance.
Additionally, he highlighted concerns about students awaiting placement and those with results under investigation.
Mr. Acquah concluded by noting the potential strain on school staff during the holiday season if students are required to stay on campus for Christmas.
