Save Ghana Movement calls for dissolution of Parliament over parliamentarians poor performance.

An Accra-based pro-advocacy Movement dubbed, Save Ghana Movement has observed that Ghanaians are no more respected as a result of the non performance and childish behaviors display openly by the parliamentarians who are supposed to know better.

Therefore, for the sake of economic development, stability and the welfare of the citizenry, the Movement further demands for urgent reforms whilst it stands firm for their call to freeze the parliament.

Speaking to the Correspondent in an interview the Founder and leader of the Save Ghana Movement, Mr Robert Andzie Ansah disclosed that the Members of Parliament (MPs) in Ghana do not operate independently, as they are mandated to represent the interests of the Ghanaian people at the Parliamentary level.

Robert Andzie Ansah noted with deep disappointment that many MPs seems to have forgotten their fundamental duties as the legislators who represent the people in their various Constituencies across the country and as such needed to prioritize the welfare of their constituents.

The Movement cited the recent absence of the MPs during a crucial events like the State of the Nation’s address as one of the vivid accounts that showed that our Mps are not only failure, but also portray their blatant disregard for the trust Ghanaians have in them.

According to Mr Ansah, it is indeed, insulting to see MPs neglecting their responsibilities, especially considering that they are entrusted to be the eyes, ears, and hands of the people in Parliament.

Instead of engaging in meaningful debates and contributing to national development, they often engage in petty politics and childish behaviour, the Movement hinted.

Stressing that this behaviour is worsened by the fact that decisions made by the president which directly impact the lives of Ghanaians are oftenly becomes a rubber-stamped decisions by these same MPs.

Mr Robert Andzie Ansah said the evasion of accountability, particularly about the issues concerning the handling of loans and other important matters are unacceptable, though we have parliamentarians who are expected to tackle such issues.

But in the strongest view of the Movement, Ghanaians deserve better than to be taken for granted by their elected representatives of the parliament.

The Movement recalled that the recent intervention of the former president to urge the MPs to fulfil their duties is a clear indication of the sorry state of our leadership in the country.

And it is also evidence that many MPs prioritize their personal and party interests over the well-being of the nation, Mr Robert Andzie disclosed.

Adding, this selfish and short-sighted approach does not only undermines the principles of the country’s democracy, but also damages the fabric of our society.

The Save Ghana Movement, with a heavy heart, declares that Parliament should be dissolved, because it is time to reset and rebuild our governance structures to truly serve the people of Ghana well.

Mr Ansah posited that the country provides our leaders, the best of foods, electricity, healthcare, security among others, yet Ghanaians never benefit from their services and performances in return, he concluded.
