Cheddar’s Dredging Idea, A Brilliant Outside The ‘Thinking Box’, Don’t Mock It.
Writes Mensah Thompson, Executive Director of ASEPA.
I have seen a lot of commentary on social media attempting to ridicule the promise of by Nana Kwame Bediako also known as cheddar to dredge the ocean to create an ocean way to Kumasi for the transportation of goods directly to Kumasi without docking and relaying them on heavy trucks for unward transportation to Kumasi.
First of all the ridiculing of this rather ingenious idea by Ghanaians shows how much we have become so accustomed to mediocre ideas and policies such that anything outside the box sounds like a joke to us as Ghanaians.
For me this is one of the most brilliant ideas I have heard from a politician in a long while, I would expect that the two main Parties, the NDC and the NPP begin to put their best brains together to explore the viability of this idea.
Canals has been built and used in the world for hundreds of years, in fact there’s never been a thing that has given any Country or region a strategic advantage than Canals.
The Panama Canal, the Suez Canal are one of many examples of the how strategic canals can be for Countries.
The British has used canals to transport goods to their main lands for years.
The Netherlands has also been the Country with the highest number of canals, with as many as 1000 canals, transporting goods throughout the Country.
We built Boankra inland port in Kumasi, how about building a “Boankra Canal” that will move goods directly from Tema to Boankra, freeing the Accra-Kumasi road off the many articulated heavy vehicles that are killing innocent Citizens day in day out?
Like I have said this elections, it not business as usual oo, no mediocre ideas or policies will be entertained, the problem of Ghana needs outside the box thinking, Someone has brought a 24hour economy to solve the unemployment problem instead of NABCO, that is thinking outside the box, Cheddar is also suggesting creating a canal to move goods directly from the port to the middle belt to free our roads, this will also open the Country and create jobs and opportunities for villages and towns where the canal will pass, very ingenious, great outside the box thinking….
Now let’s hear from the blues…
Operation no mediocre idea will be entertained duly launched!!
