The Aspiring Parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Tain Constituency, Mr. Afful Manu Benjamin has sounded a word of advise to the heads of the Senior High Schools to refrain from using their own initiatives to demand for unapproved items from parents whose children have gained admissions to study in the various SHS across the country.
Mr Afful who also doubles as the the Proprietor for Stars of Africa Montessori Academy and Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) for Sama Superior Company Limited as well as the Northern Sector Representative of Kantanka Groups of Company observed that the various items that the heads of the Senior High Schools have been demanding from parents are too much and go contrary to the free education policy.
The demands, Mr Afful who is also a Businessman, Philanthropist and a Tutor at the Berekum Presbyterian Senior High School further noted, is also affecting the image of the government and therefore immediate steps must be taken to cool down tempers.
The business man who is also known as (Nsawkawdehyeɛ) was speaking to journalists in reaction to the various Senior High Schools who have been allegedly demanding for too much items to be provided by parents on their prospectus forms.
According to the Aspiring Parliamentary candidate, he had had enough time to monitor and study some prospectus of some students from the various SHS and it was regretful that many items that were supposed to be provided by the schools were dumped on the parents to bear.
The businessman mentioned items like A 4 sheets, bulbs, pens among others that are supposed to be provided by the schools.
The situation he bemoaned, is making the parents to believe that the free education policy is just existing by name because the expenses that parents incurs before their wards gain admissions to study are equal to school fees based on the past experiences.
To set the records straight on whether the government has no hands in the alleged too much items that the SHS heads have been demanding from the parents, l humbly urged the Ghana Education Service to come out and clear the air and be specific on which items the parents should provide to enable their wards gain access to schools.
Mr Afful stressed that if the GES is able to clear the air it would go a long way to free government from public doubts whilst the plotters who intends to tarnish the image of the free senior high school policy would be brought to book.
Mr. Afful stated that because parents are cooperating with the schools for their wards admissions, some headmasters/mistresses have allegedly taken it as an opportunity to over burden them (parents) and also frustrating the government free SHS program.
