Mankessim Chieftaincy Dispute: Omanhene, Nkyidomhene smoke peace pipe
The Mankessim Traditional Council yesterday signed a peace accord in Mankessim and called on other chiefs and the people of the area to dedicate themselves to maintaining peace and unity among themselves.
They also appealed to the people to forge ahead in unity to accelerate the pace of development to ensure that the people enjoy better standards of living.
“They were our adversaries not our enemy,” Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI stated.
The Mankessim Peace Accord brings to an end the protracted chieftaincy over years chieftaincy dispute that has caused a deep division among the chiefs and the people of the area.
The chiefs are the Mankessim Omanhene Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI and Nkyidom Division headed by the Nkyidomhene Nana Kwaa Annan XI.
Then the Nkyidomhene Nana Kwaanan and Nana Baafi, Chief of Baafikrom was sworn as members of the Mankessim Traditional Council.
The reconciliation ceremony was also witnessed by the clergy, Mankessim MTTD Police Commander and important dignitaries.
A statement read was that chiefs of the Mankessim State declared re-united.
