Hon. Akwasi Opong-Fosu, a former Minister of Local Government and Governance Policy Analyst, has praised President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for their exceptional leadership and dedication to Ghana’s rebirth.
He commended their commitment to restoring hope, integrity, and progress, which serves as a beacon for all Ghanaians.
Opong-Fosu emphasized that Ghana’s journey is reminiscent of the Phoenix rising from ashes, symbolizing the country’s resilience and perseverance. He acknowledged that Ghana has faced numerous challenges, including economic hardships, leadership lapses, and erosion of public trust in institutions. The erosion of core moral values such as honesty, empathy, and integrity has contributed to these challenges, allowing corruption to weaken institutions and mismanagement to exacerbate economic decline.
Despite these challenges, Opong-Fosu expressed optimism about Ghana’s future, citing the 2024 election as a pivotal shift towards transformational leadership and governance. He stressed that for Ghana to fully realize its rebirth, the country must address the root causes of past setbacks and reclaim its national values, adding that the steps to resetting Ghana requires integrity, transparency, and accountability to form the cornerstone of governance.
Opong-Fosu also emphasized the need for institutional reform, ethical leadership, and a bold economic agenda prioritizing entrepreneurship, innovation, and industrialization.
He highlighted the importance of inclusivity, ensuring economic growth benefits all segments of society, and education and skills development to equip the next generation for success.
Ultimately, Opong-Fosu believes that Ghana’s renewal will be the product of collective effort, perseverance, and unwavering belief in the country’s strength. He urged citizens to engage, contribute, and uplift one another, saying, “Let us not wait for change; let’s be the change we want to see in our nation”
