Kumasi, Ashanti Region – June 4, 2025 – A torrential downpour on Monday, June 3rd, has left a trail of devastation across several communities in the Kwabre South Constituency of the Ashanti region, rendering many residents homeless and causing significant property damage.
The intense rainfall, which began around 6 PM and lasted for approximately two hours, overwhelmed drainage systems and inundated homes, forcing panicked residents to flee in search of safety.
Kenyase, Adumaim, and Kenkase were among the towns hardest hit by the flooding.
Residents watched helplessly as the rising waters engulfed their homes, carrying away belongings and leaving behind a scene of chaos and destruction.
Many lost everything, including valuable possessions and, in some cases, even cash.
As of press time, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), in conjunction with the District Assembly, have yet to mount a coordinated response.
Distressed residents are currently scrambling to salvage what remains of their belongings and begin the arduous task of assessing the damage.

Officials have issued a stark warning to residents whose homes are located in known waterlogged areas, advising them to prepare to evacuate permanently.
