Islamic Movement extends Eid al-Adha greetings, urges youth to celebrate responsibly

As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, a leading Kumasi-based Muslim Non Governmental Organization (NGO), the Muslim Executive Foundation (MEF), has extended its warmest wishes to Muslims both locally and internationally, expressing gratitude for Allah’s guidance in reaching another successful occasion.

Alhaji Musa Abubakari, Chairman of the NGO and Chief Executive Officer of Basfam Co. Ltd! Kumasi Ashanti region, highlighted the significant meaning of Eid al-Adha, emphasizing its core values of obedience, humility, unity, and love within the community.

He explained the historical basis of the celebration, referencing the profound story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who, after years of longing for a child, was commanded by God to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (Ishmael).

Alhaji Musa elaborated, “The rationale behind this occasion is deeply rooted in the experience of Abraham. Despite his struggle to have Ismael for years, he remained obedient to God.

When asked to sacrifice him, Abraham, driven by love, obedience, and humility, was prepared to do so. Seeing Abraham’s unwavering devotion, God miraculously provided a fat sheep in exchange for Ismael for the sacrifice.”

He emphasized that Prophet Ibrahim’s success stemmed from his unwavering commitment to kindness, love, and humility, transcending racial discrimination.

He urged Muslims to emulate these virtues during this blessed occasion, demonstrating love, kindness, and promoting unity to foster peaceful coexistence within society.

Acknowledging the temptations that often accompany joyful celebrations, Chairman Alhaji Musa Abubakari advised caution and maturity. “In every joyful occasion, temptations arise.

How to overcome these temptations depends on carefulness and maturity. It is our responsibility to be mindful as we celebrate this occasion.”

He specifically addressed the youth, urging them to exercise restraint in their merriment to avoid accidents and trouble. He cautioned against letting their joy lead them astray, encouraging responsible behavior that reflects the true spirit of Eid al-Adha: a time for reflection, gratitude, and devotion.

The Muslim Executive Foundation’s message serves as a timely reminder that while celebrating the joy of Eid, Muslims should strive to embody the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim, promoting love, kindness, and unity while ensuring a responsible and safe environment for all.
