Breaking News: Jubilation everywhere as president John Dramani Mahama is set to fulfill another promise

John Dramani Mahama, Ghana’s president, is set to introduce a groundbreaking agricultural programme aimed at boosting the country’s economy through farming. The initiative, known as the Feed Ghana Programme (FGP), will be launched at Methodist School Park in Techiman, a region historically known for its vital contribution to national food production.

Initially slated for an earlier launch, the event was delayed to finalize necessary preparations. The FGP is expected to tackle food shortages, enhance job creation, and support economic revitalization through the modernization of farming and assistance to local farmers.

According to Ghana Agric Watch, Hon. John Dumelo, MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, described the programme on social media as a bold move towards national food security and rural development. Though the complete details have yet to be disclosed, sources within the NDC reveal that the programme will include expanded agricultural loans, improved mechanization, and strengthened value chain systems.

Launching the programme in Techiman reflects the initiative’s grassroots orientation and the strategic importance of the region in Ghana’s agriculture. With food costs rising and dependency on imports growing, the FGP is being introduced at a crucial time.

A large turnout is expected at the launch, with participation from farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and members of the public. The Feed Ghana Programme forms a key part of Mahama’s overall plan for national development, emphasizing a self-reliant and resilient agricultural economy.
