Eectoral Commission insists on completing results from 3 polling stations unless collation fails.
The Electoral Commission (EC has dismissed calls for a rerun of the 2024 parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North Constituency, stating that the collation of results from the remaining three polling stations is still feasible.
Responding to questions from South Dayi MP and Minority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Deputy EC Chair in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare, explained that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding a rerun in over 30 polling stations, while the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) maintains that the EC should complete the collation using the three unresolved polling stations.
Dr. Asare stressed that a rerun would only be considered as a last resort.
“For Ablekuma North, we have not reached the point where we will say we don’t have the results. When we try and we cannot get the results, that is when we will resort to the rerun. The rerun will be a last option. So once we get to that point, we’ll do it,” he said.
He noted that while the Commission is ready to proceed with the collation, it has been unable to do so due to security concerns. The Ghana Police Service, he said, is waiting for legal advice from the Attorney-General before offering support.
“As we speak now, the Commission is ready to proceed with the collation. We just need the support of the security agencies to enable us to complete it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Asare also disclosed that the Commission spent GH¢6 million to reprint ballot papers in the Eastern and Western Regions following a leakage during the 2024 general elections.
According to him, GH¢3.6 million was used to reprint presidential ballots, while GH¢2.4 million was spent on parliamenary ballots.

He clarified that the expenditure involved no procurement infractions, stating that the Commission followed due process in addressing the incident.
