In the heart of Atiwa District in Ghana’s Eastern Region lies Akyem Ankaase-Jadem, a town that stands poised for growth and development under the steadfast leadership of its chief, Barima Ansah Sasraku Ofram II.

With a focused vision, Barima Sasraku Ofram II has pledged to enhance the welfare of his citizens and promote the town’s development, a goal he believes will attract investors and foster economic upliftment.

In an exclusive interview, Barima Ansah Sasraku Ofram II articulated his commitment to the town’s progress. “My ultimate goal is to ensure the welfare and development of my town,” he stated emphatically.

Recognizing that Akyem Ankaase-Jadem possesses untapped potential, he aims to promote the area and illuminate its merits to attract both local and foreign investors.

To realize this ambitious agenda, the chief employs traditional strategies, engaging the community through public gatherings, promotional games, and entertainment events. These initiatives not only celebrate the rich culture of the town but also create a platform for dialogue among residents about their mutual concerns and ambitions.

Looking ahead to 2024, Barima Sasaku II, along with his elders and the Town Development Committee, has set the dates from December 27th to 31st for a historic event designed to enhance community spirit and unity. This week-long program will include a variety of activities aimed at showcasing the beauty, peace, and potential of Akyem Ankaase-Jadem.

“We have decided to set aside special occasions annually to roll out comprehensive programs that attract participation from both locals and visitors,” he explained. He acknowledged that while Akyem Ankaase-Jadem is a well-developed community, the absence of active programs has left it relatively unknown. Hence, this event serves as a crucial step in raising public awareness about the town’s offerings.

Among the highlights of the upcoming December event is a special peace walk, a two- to three-hour journey that will start in the town and finish at Osino township. Participants will enjoy a communal breakfast upon arrival, further fostering a sense of togetherness among the community members, especially the youth.

Additionally, on December 27th, a fun fair and meal assembly will invite residents to enjoy assorted foods at no cost, accompanied by musical entertainment.

Chairman Daniel Ansah, affectionately known as Chairman Abeiku, who chairs the Ayem Ankaase-Jadem Town Development Committee, voiced his enthusiasm for this initiative. He expressed confidence in Barima Ansah Sasraku Ofram II’s leadership, describing him as a unifying and peace-loving chief.

Chairman Abeiku accentuated the significance of this festival as the first of its kind in the town, aimed at promoting development and peaceful coexistence.

In addition to these engaging activities, the festival will feature a football gala, dancing competitions, and entertainment shows, all designed to strengthen bonds within the community while drawing attention to Akyem Ankaase-Jadem. “We aim to attract Ghanaians from all walks of life to participate in this historic celebration,” he shared, emphasizing the potential for lucrative prizes and awards ranging from Gh200.00 to Gh500.00 for overall winning participants.

As the town gears up for this event, the overarching sentiment is one of anticipation and hope. Barima Ansah Sasaku II’s dedication to the welfare of his people, combined with the collective efforts of the community, promises to propel Akyem Ankaase-Jadem into a new era of recognition and prosperity.

This commitment to development, rooted in tradition and community engagement, sets a notable precedent for other towns looking to enhance their economic and social frameworks.

As Akyem Ankaase-Jadem prepares for its landmark festival, the calls for participation echo a broader vision, one where unity, culture, and development converge to create a vibrant community for future generations.
