A renowned fetish priest and a former Parliamentary candidate in the 2024 elections on the ticket of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the Jomoro Constituency in the Western regio, Nana Blay Miezah has called on the government to as a matter of urgency add traditional religion as one of the subjects into the school programs .

According to Nana Blay Meizah who lives at Miegyinla a town near Nzulenzo in the Western region, when his message is prioritized for implementation it would go a long way to help the students to become abreast with the traditional religion and its values.

It will also enlighten them to remain disciplined and faithful to contribute their quota towards national development,, Nana Blay Meizah observed.

Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive interview he expressed worry on how for a long time traditional religion has been subtracted from the school curriculum whilst Christian religion is included in school curriculum

Nana Blay intimated that the rejection of the traditional religion in the county’s educational curriculum is not acceptable considering the roles that traditional religion play in the society just like other religions bodies, principles of traditionalists need to be recognized in the national front.

He said it is time we should desist from making it a laughing stock and start regarding the traditional religion as part of a medium whose presence needs to be recognized at the national level.

By adding traditional religion as part of the lessons we treat in schools, the traditionalist believes that the country is on course in its drive to avoid academic and religious discrimination.

.He said it is important that children in schools especially those at the KGs, nurseries and primaries are introduced to the teachings of traditional values to help them understand their roots and culture values.

According to him educating and encouraging young students in the practices such as puberty rites, dressing codes ,drumming among others would usher them into a greater future unlike the modern times where we have lots of teenage pregnancies and other defiant characters in the society.
