Ahmed Suale’s murder; Alleged murderer slapped with new charge including abetment.

The alleged murderer of investigative Journalist Ahmed Suale, Daniel Owusu Koranteng has been slapped with new charges including abetment to commit murder. The accused was earlier charged with only murder. However following the Prosecution’s amendment of the charge sheet, he is now facing two charges.When the case was called yesterday before her Worship. Susanna Nyarkotey, counsel for the accused, Kofi Essel prayed the court to grant his client bail, but his prayer was opposed by the Prosecution led by Chief Inspector Nana Afuabamfoa Bamfo. According to the Prosecution, they are still conducting investigations and need the accused to remain in custody. Following the prayer the accused has been denied bail to reappear on April 17 2025.Daniel Owusu Koranteng who was arrested on March 15, 2025 is alleged to have sold photographs of Ahmed Suale to Kennedy Agyapong, the former MP for Assin Central which led to his murder.According to Prosecution, both the accused and the deceased had an close relationship while they worked together at Tiger Eye Company led my investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.The facts said tensions escalated in June 2018 when Kennedy Agyapong allegedly broadcasted images of Ahmed Suale on Net2 TV, calling for retribution against the investigative journalist. Prosecution said the deceased Ahmed Suale later identified the accused as the person who provided Mr. Agyapong with his photographs and confronted him through a WhatsApp chat.On January 16, 2019, following the publication of the deceased’s images, he was allegedly shot and killed in Madina. Investigation disclosed that, the accused person having known the deceased’s place of abode and possible hideouts, allegedly led two other culprits who are currently on the run to the house of the deceased where he was shot and killed.Prosecution further noted that call records allegedly placed the accused in Madina near the deceased’s residence, before, during and after the murder adding that further analysis showed that, the accused bolted from Madina to his residence in Amasaman late in the evening at about 23:15 after the murder. Daniel Koranteng is alleged to have fled to the United Kingdom somewhere 2019 after the murder of the deceased.During the investigation, the accused allegedly declined multiple Police invitations and subsequently disguised his identity by using someone’s National Identification Authority card to change the registration of his SIM card.He later returned to Ghana and intelligence led to his arrest in Amasaman on March 15, 2025 where he allegedly admitted his relationship with Kennedy Agyapong, and further admitted having visited his residence. Daniel Koranteng again admitted having taking photographs with the deceased but denied selling the photographs to anyone.The case has been adjourned to April 17, 2025.
