In a recent display of political tension within Ghana’s landscape, former Trade and Industry Minister Mr. Kwadwo Allan Kyeremanteng, popularly known as Allan Cash, has expressed deep disappointment in remarks made by former President John Agyekum Kuffour regarding Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been a focal point of criticism, with many questioning the efficacy of his policies as part of the current administration.

Allan Cash, who is now running as an Independent Presidential candidate for the Movement of Change, took to the public to convey his dismay at what he perceives as Kuffour’s endorsement of Bawumia’s policies, which he described as “bogus.”

In a bold statement, Kyeremanteng criticized Kuffour for seemingly overlooking the challenges that the nation faces under Bawumia’s policies in collaboration with President Akufo-Addo.

The former Minister’s disappointment stems from what he sees as a broader failure of the current government, which has led to widespread dissatisfaction among Ghanaians. The country has undergone significant economic challenges, and critics have pointed to the administration’s policies as contributors to the rising discontent and instability faced by citizens.

Kyeremanteng believes that Kuffour’s remarks do not accurately reflect the sentiments of the Ghanaian populace and questioned the authenticity of the praise rendered to Bawumia.

“I am sorry for him,” Kyeremanteng remarked, referring to Kuffour’s public endorsement. “As an elderly statesman, I would reserve further comments, but Ghanaians would be the best judge on whether Bawumia has any good policies that he can apply to transform the country if power is transferred to him.”

His candid remarks highlight a growing rift within the NPP and reflect a broader discontent among party members and the electorate regarding the current administration’s performance.

Kyeremanteng appears to be positioning himself as a voice of reason and a potential alternative for voters disillusioned by the recent governance.

As the political climate in Ghana continues to shift, and as the 2024 elections draw closer, statements like those from Allan Cash underscore the fierce competition and contrasting visions for the country’s future. Ghanaians are poised to evaluate not only the claims of past administrations but also the promises of future leaders as they navigate their choices in an increasingly complex political landscape.
