PRESS STATEMENT
From the Alliance For Civic Action (ACA)
Date: Thursday, 7th August 2025.
A National Tragedy , A Time to Mourn, Reflect, and Act

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the Alliance For Civic Action (ACA) extends its profound condolences to the bereaved families, loved ones, and all Ghanaians following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of our gallant servicemen on Wednesday, 6th August 2025.

This is a moment of national grief , one that shakes the very soul of our country. The men we lost were not just professionals in uniform. They were fathers, brothers, sons, and patriots who dedicated their lives to the service and safety of our beloved nation. Their loss is not only a devastating blow to their families, but to every Ghanaian whose peace and security they silently helped to uphold.

In moments like these, our collective strength, emotional resilience, and national solidarity are paramount. We urge all citizens to reach out in compassion to console the grieving, comfort the heartbroken, and offer strength to the weary. Our emotional well-being as a nation is just as vital as our physical safety.

As a Civil Society Organization committed to civic education and public engagement, the Alliance For Civic Action views this moment not only as a tragedy, but also as a call to action:

We will launch a national civic campaign to educate citizens on managing emotional trauma individually and collectively during national crises. The campaign will focus on psychological first aid, community solidarity, and safe emotional expression.

We call on all Ghanaians to foster a culture of empathy and togetherness. In workplaces, schools, churches, mosques, and homes , let each of us be a beacon of hope. A nation that mourns together, heals together.

We respectfully urge the Government of Ghana, the Ministry of Defence, and all relevant state agencies to conduct a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation into this tragic incident. It is imperative that:

The root causes of the crash are identified without delay;

Existing safety protocols for air operations especially those involving state personnel are critically reviewed;

Strategic and technological measures are implemented swiftly to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Let us honour the memory of our fallen heroes by building a safer, more compassionate Ghana — one where service is respected, lives are protected, and unity is our greatest strength in times of crisis.

Let this tragedy not break our spirit, but inspire us to build systems, communities, and hearts that stand resilient in the face of adversity.

> God bless the families of the departed.
God bless the Alliance For Civic Action.
And God bless our homeland Ghana.

Signed,
Executive Secretary
