Ancient Throne Reclaimed: Nana Kwaku Adde III installed as custodian of Denkyira Nsenie Stool

The Chiefs and Elders of the Denkyira Traditional Council in collaboration with the Ekuona Family of Jukwa Nsuo-Ase in the Central Region have enstooled former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Hemang Lower Denkyira District, Hon Nana Kweku Abban as the new Nseniehene of the Denkyira Traditional Area.

Now bearing the stool name Nana Kwaku Adde lll, the new chief was officially installed during a grand traditional ceremony at Jukwa Acheampong Market after Nananom had performed all the required traditions and customs in the midnight.

The stool has been vacant for 20 years since the passing into glory of the late Chief Nana Osei Kwabena in 2005.

The New Nseniehene known in private life as Nana Kweku Abban aka Mr. Emmanuel Abban was sworn in at the forecourt of the Amponsam Ahenfie at Jukwa on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Following the performance of the customary rites and rituals, the newly enstooled chief swore an oath of allegiance to his family head Nana Kweku Nduom pending the election, installation and enstoolment of the new Denkyirahene.

Then together with all the newly installed chiefs who traditions demand of them to swear to the king of Denkyira, so to do.

A number of new chiefs have been recently installed following the demand from the traditional council and the Denkyirahemaa Nana Ama Ayensua-Saara lll who made the request from the various families with vacant stools before the enstoolment of the King of the Denkyira Kingdom.

The historic event drew thousands of enthusiastic spectators, leadership of political parties, District Chief Executive of Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira Hon. Patrick Fiable and staff of the District Assembly. District Chief Executives of Upper Denkyira East and West.

Also present were the clergy, senior staff members of the Ghana Education Service of the District, District Health Directorate staff, Nadmo, YEA, former District and Municipal Chief Executives in the erstwhile Nana Akufo led NPP Government, among other dignitaries across the country who gathered to witness the colourful ceremony.

Cheers also erupted as the new chief was carried shoulder-high through the main streets of Jukwa in a jubilant procession led by royal guards and accompanied by the rhythmic sound of traditional drums, songs and musket fire.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Kwaku Adde III advised the youth to stay away from the use of hard and abusive substances.

He emphasized the negative impact such behavior can have on their health in the future, and the overall progress of the communities.

He encouraged the people to channel their energies into productive ventures such as education, skills training, and entrepreneurship.

He further assured Nananom and the entire community of his unwavering commitment to supporting initiatives that will bring sustainable development to the area.

Nana Kwaku Adde III expressed his readiness to collaborate with stakeholders, including local authorities and development partners to improve infrastructure, create employment opportunities, and promote peace and unity among the people.
