The founder and leader of the Faith Salvation Worship Centre, Apostle Clement Ofori Sarbeng, has issued a blistering statement and challenging Ghanaian politicians to fundamentally change their approach to governance and campaigning.
Speaking to the correspondent in an an exclusive interview at the closing section of a jointly organized monthly revival program with Heaven Key Prayer Camp in Pampatia in the Afigya Kwabere North, the clergyman expressed his disappointment about how politicians have been failing the country in terms of governance.
He said politicians allegedly have the habits of making grand promises during elections and abandon citizens once power is transferred to them.
Apostle Sarbeng’s mind boggling statement underscores a pervasive frustration among citizens.
He lamented that Ghanaians place their trust in political figures, hoping for solutions to their problems only to witness these promises dumped into the waste basket after election victories.
The five day powerful revival program held from September 22nd to 26th has the theme: “The Lord Will Set A Table Before Your Enemies,” drawn from 2nd Samuel 19:10 11 served as a backdrop for the Apostle’s strong message.
Citing instances to justify his claims Apostle Sarbeng recalled that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) gave promises when vying for power.
The Npp party he reiterated pledged to end illegal mining (galamsey), abolish gay practices and other antisocial vices and prioritize citizen welfare.
However the Apostle contended that the NPP under the then Akufo Addo – Bawumia administration woefully failed to deliver.
He highlighted former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent confession and apology to Ghanaians regarding the NPP’s inability to improve the country.
The clergyman questioned on whether politicians are taking the country for granted or they disregard the integrity of Ghanaian citizens.
Apostle Clement Ofori Sarbeng did not spare the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) either.
He alleged that the NDC government under President John Dramani Mahama is also failing the country.
While the NDC promised to discourage galamsey Apostle Sarbeng noted that worst things are going on with President Mahama allegedly failing to declare a state of emergency to halt the destruction of water bodies and forest reserves.
Furthermore he criticized the NDC’s silence on homosexuality and its cancellation in the society especially after they had vocally questioned the Akufo Addo administration’s stance on the issue while in opposition.
If we live in a country where politicians turn lawlessness and never think about the welfare of their citizens, then where is the country heading to he questioned.
Apostle Clement Ofori Sarbeng asserted, without fear or favor, that politicians are indeed taking the country for granted, referencing President John Dramani Mahama’s infamous comment he made in some years backthat Ghanaians have short memories and easily forget the offences politicians commit against the state.
On this note Apostle Sarbeng sounded a clear warning to the political class.
He emphasized that Ghanaians are equally intelligent and as such politicians must prioritize the welfare of the citizens who mandated them into power.
He urged politicians to stop undermining the integrity of the populace, cautioning that one day the citizens would rise against them in a defiant mannerl should this pattern of neglect and broken promises persist.
