Ashanti Npp chairmen welcome Bawumia in his presidential bid towards the 2028; general elections

Former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, met with all 47 Constituency Chairmen in the Ashanti Region on June 21 as part of efforts to relaunch his presidential ambitions for the 2028 elections.

The meeting, held in the party’s traditional stronghold, brought together other key party executives in the region.

Dr. Bawumia used the opportunity to reconnect with grassroots leaders and outline his vision for the future of the NPP.

Sources close to his team revealed that he formally announced his intention to contest the party’s 2028 flagbearership and sought the full backing of the regional leaders.
He called on members to remain united as the party moves toward the next phase of internal elections.

“He asked for party unity and stressed the importance of strong grassroots support,” a party insider told journalists.

Dr. Bawumia has also been meeting with various interest groups, including TESCON, the student wing of the party, who are said to have pledged overwhelming support for his bid.

Earlier in the week, over 60 Members of Parliament from the NPP Minority visited Dr. Bawumia’s office in Accra to affirm their commitment to his leadership.
