Ellen Daaku, the Special Aide to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has said that the former National Service Authority boss and his deputy must face the court and defend themselves if they believe they are innocent of the charges brought against them. She explained that no one is above the law and that every public officer must be ready to account for their actions when they leave office.
Speaking on the matter, Ellen Daaku said it is not fair to assume that the government is targeting anyone for political reasons. According to her, it is normal for people who have worked in public positions to be invited by state agencies to explain certain issues. “The former National Service Authority boss and his deputy should defend themselves in court,” she said firmly. She explained that the law gives them every opportunity to present their case and clear their names if they have done nothing wrong.
She added that Ghanaians should allow the legal process to take its course instead of rushing to accuse the government of political persecution. She said that President Akufo-Addo’s government has always respected the independence of the judiciary and the investigative agencies. She reminded the public that the courts are the right place for truth to be established and for justice to be served.
Ellen Daaku also mentioned that as a country, there is a need to encourage accountability and transparency in public service. She said that public officials should understand that their actions are always under public scrutiny, and once they leave office, they must be ready to answer for decisions they made while in power. She said the courts should be trusted to do their work without interference.

She also advised politicians to avoid making the issue partisan, saying that once an individual holds a public office, they are accountable to the people of Ghana, not to a political party. She said the National Service Authority is an important institution that serves the youth of Ghana, and any allegations of wrongdoing there should be treated seriously. She emphasized that the Vice President she works with, Dr. Bawumia, has always stood for integrity and fairness, and he would never support any attempt to shield wrongdoing.
“The law will work, and if they are innocent, they will come out clean. But if there is evidence against them, they will face the consequences. That is how a fair society operates,” she said.
