Beware of cyber fraudsters who operates online lending businesses in Ghana.
Information reaches this website indicates that some alleged Nigerian cyber fraudsters have been taken advantage of the economic challenges confronting the country to dupe innocent Ghanaians reports King Amoah our Chief correspondent in the Ashanti Region.
Such alleged fraudsters in a clever way, operate online lending businesses with the aim at supporting the needy Ghanaians to access loans for business or personal issues.
Such operators display their apps on the Apple and Google play stores among other social media platforms respectively.
Their apps tries to give convincing loan terms that easily attracts borrowers to download the app to access loan.
Upon the application the app will access the borrower’s information and other details from your phone device.
The app it was gathered, after accessing the borrower’s information and becomes satisfied the app operators then quickly disburse an amount of at least Ghc 100-200 into the borrower’s momo account, though the borrower has not requested for that money.
With such money the operators behind the app would allegedly deduct 50 percentage from the money as a processing or platform fee after which they ask the borrower to repay it within seven days.to increase borrower’s credit score for bigger loan in the next loan application.
This means that if the operators of the app shows you Ghc 200 on the apps platform, they will deduct Ghc 100 from the Ghc 200 as processing fee and credit vour momo wallet with Ghc100 and ask the borrower to pay Ghc200 within 7 days., though the borrower never asked for the disbursed amount and moreover their terms hardly covers them for such transaction
What seems more suspicious is the fact that such online lending operators would display their locations, contacts and email addresses along with their terms, a customer cannot reach them and their locations turn out to be mirage when a borrower decides to make enquiries.
But when a borrower fails to pay back the supposed loan after 7 days the app operators would surface to demand repayment with interest amidst theatening and harsh words like you will be reported to the Police or publish you on the social media platforms to disgrace you if you fail to pay us.
These online lending operators have been allegedly using their apps to dupe Ghanaians under the cover of internet loans, and as they operate under the legal frameworks under the country’s financial laws or under any lawful authourity is one big question Ghanaians wanted to know.
This website can authoritatively mention one of such online lenders as Cashpal App, noted to have been disturbing borrowers who prefer payment of the amount disbursed into their momo wallets but Insists for 100 percent interest for a 7 days Ghc 286 loans they disburse into borrowers wallets.
