While many Ghanaian youth voice frustrations over a perceived scarcity of job opportunities and tend to point fingers at government’s inaction, two students at the Garden City University Nana Boakye and Emmanuel Darkwah tend to have championing a contrast perspective.

They firmly believe that the key to economic empowerment lies not in waiting for elusive white collar jobs but in the fertile grounds of creative entrepreneurship.

 

 

Their burgeoning venture, “The Naked Cafe,” located at the heart of Kenyase in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti region is not just a business success story; it’s a testament to their conviction that innovation and low capital ventures can pave the way for financial independence, regardless of one’s educational background.

The prevailing sentiment among a segment of the youth is one of discouragement often attribute to unemployment challenges solely to government shortcomings.

However, Nana Boakye and Emmanuel Darkwah see a different picture..

It’s not about the government not creating enough jobs, the duo stated in a brimming voice with a quiet confidence.

The skills and creativity we possess even as students can be leveraged into profitable ventures.

The students fundamental understanding is that small enterprises often require minimal capital investment initially, yet possess the potential for significant profitability.

You don’t need a huge bank loan to start operate unique snacks or refreshing beverages, the students explained .

Speaking to the Correspondent in an exclusive interview Nana Boakye and Emmanuel Darkwah reiterated that the Cafe was established by them as students who are currently studying at the Garden City University in 2025.

The duo related that the idea started as a simple vision among friends who wanted to start something unique while still in school combining creativity, business and passion for serving quality drinks and snacks to the public.

Now successful and in full swing Naked Cafe currently have a wide range of menu that include boba tea, fresh juices, smoothies and pastries..

Running the cafe while studying the students said the business has helped them to build discipline, teamwork and leadership techniques in business environment.

The ‘Naked’ in our name is not just about being simple or unadorned but it represents transparency, authenticity and a no frills approach to quality.

Highlighting on their challenges the partners limited to capital, balancing school with business and growing brand awareness in competitive market.

About public impact and future plans, Nana Boakye and Emmanuel Darkwah indicated that Naked Cafe has created a relaxing spot where people in Kumasi and beyond throngs in daily to enjoy unique drinks and fresh beverages, while introducing to the public boba tea.

The management of the Naked Cafe plans to expand their network across Kumasi and beyond ultimately with the aim at opening new opportunities for the youth amidst the introduction of new flavors to enhance their business activities.

The Nana Boakye and Emmanuel Darkwah took the opportunity to advise the youth that with jobs becoming scarce, they should explore entrepreneurship, lean skills and start something with a determination to succeed.
