Bonwirehene urges government to set up Kente weaving firm to help creates jobs in the country.
The chief of Bonwire in Ashanti Region, Nana Bobie Ansah II has stressed the need for the good government to establish a Kente manufacturing firm at Bonwire to help create job avenues for the teaming unemployed youth in the country.
Commissioning a multi million kente musoleum at Bonwire, Nana Bobie believes that if government move a step forward to set up the manufacturing company to produce the yarns as well as the stiching materials been used for the production of Kente, it would go a long way to create not only jobs for the youth but also help the government to generate foreign income especially in the area of tourism.
He said it is based on this principle that his outfit as a traditional leader is embarking on such project through the commissioning of the musoleum.
Nana Bobie observed that, kente clothing fetches lot of money, helps bring in foreign exchange and helps boost tourism in the country.
He expressed disappoint on why such a laudable venture has been left somehow unconcerned by the successive governments to add value to the Kente weaving business in the country.
He explained that, the yarns the country is importing from China and Indonesia for the weaving of kente can be produce here in Ghana if proper attention is given to the industry.
He stressed the need for the efforts to employ some strategies that could help enhance a new repackaging system to make the business more attractive to the world.
This, he said Kente can be scarced in the country, Bonwire been the traditional home of the products would continue the industry to survive with their traditional heritage across the global scene.
