The Honourable Minister Ministry of Education Accra, Ghana

Dear Honourable Minister,

Subject: Petition to Establish an Independent Office for Senior High School Matrons to Address Grievances

I am writing to your esteemed office to formally petition for the establishment of an independent body to address the grievances of Senior High School (SHS) matrons, particularly concerning the management of the school feeding program.

My investigations across various secondary schools indicate a troubling trend where some headmasters and bursars allegedly collaborate to misappropriate funds allocated for student feeding.

It is reported that they manipulate expenses and divert portions of the feeding funds for personal gain.

Matrons, who are on the front lines of the feeding program, are often aware of these malpractices.

However, they are systematically silenced. Those who attempt to speak out are reportedly threatened with punitive transfers or face trumped-up charges.

Furthermore, there is a perception that reporting these issues to the Regional Education Directorates of the Ghana Education Service is futile, as school authorities are believed to have improper influence within these offices, thus compromising the integrity of any investigation.

The direct consequence of this corruption is the detrimental impact on student welfare.

Students are often served under-portioned or poor-quality meals, leading to undernourishment and malnutrition. This not only affects their physical health, making them vulnerable to diseases, but also hinders their academic concentration and overall development.

To address this systemic problem, I propose the establishment of a separate, independent office specifically for SHS matrons.

This offices would serve as a safe and direct channels for the Matrons to report their grievances, malpractices, and operational challenges without fear of retribution.

Such a body could bypass the compromised channels at the school and regional levels to ensuring that complaints are heard and acted upon effectively.

Implementing this proposal would be a significant step towards eliminating corruption, removing bottlenecks in the feeding program, and guaranteeing that our students receive the nutritious meals they are entitled to. I trust that you will give this petition the serious consideration it deserves.

Yours faithfully,
Signed……………
Very Rev. Anthony Kwarteng Founder and Leader, Christ Power Miracle Mission Church
