Breaking news about the violation of electoral directives: GhanaWeb reporter, others sacked from polling station.

The Kumasi Tafo polling station officials of the New Patriotic Party have this afternoon sacked number of journalists who emerged there to take coverage of the ongoing primaries of the presidential candidates elections of the party, reports King Amoah.

The journalists include the representatives of GhanaWeb among others.

The resistance followed the journalists inability to provide the official accreditation cards from the Election Committee of the party.

Standing spellbound and having no alternative after the quit order, the men of the inky fraternity left the scene peacefully whilst those with the official invitations were embraced to cover the election proceedings.

Though there was divergent opinions on the decision taken by the party officials, but the hard truth of the case was that the Elections Committee of the party sent out letters to the media houses who have the interest to cover the elections to make sure to apply for accreditations to its staff who would cover the elections.

The Npp made it clear that only journalists with the official accreditation cards of party would be allowed to take coverage.

It said media identity cards would not be accepted as a medium to enable journalists to participate in the polls.
