The National Vice President of the Ghana Meat Sellers And Cutters Association, Chief Abdulai Wahab Ibrahim Tikuma has praised government for coming out with policies that have seen the visibility of the currency appreciation in the country.
Speaking to the news portal in an interview, Chief Wahab observed that the efforts of the government to help the stabilization of the dollar, CFA among other currencies to sustain businesses in the country should be seen as a new breeze to transform the economy.
The Vice President stressed the need for the government to do more to ensure the sustainability of the currency which in his opinion, is the best way that could revamp the economy.
Butchers he underscored, play a leading role to transform the country and it is anticipated that members can contribute positively towards national development if currency is stabilized towards national development if currency is stabilized in the country.
Chief Wahab Tikuma reiterated that butchers are in no doubt can feed the nation with best hygienic meat supply to avoid the billions of dollars that government spends to import meat and chickens annually, if currency policies are well maintained.
According to Chief Wahab meat consumption contributes to good health, economic development, and above all is a source of job creation.
Hence butchers believe that currency sustainability is the only alternative that could revamp the country.
Do more to sustain the appreciation of the currency in the country, Chief Wahab passionately appealed to the government.
He linked Australia, America, South Africa among other development countries that have experienced great achievements in their economies to the effective management of meat production.
Stressing that butchers in Ghana could also equally compete with the development countries if proper environment is created for the stakeholders in meat production.
Chief Wahab Tikuma took the opportunity to advise business communities to come together and collaborate with the government about decision making on the issues that relate to currency.
This is because the private sector is the engine of development in every society.h
With the current appreciation of the currency, butchers are ready to serve the country to improve health conditions of the citizenry, and the ball is in the government court to help build an effective economy Chief Wahab indicated.
