Clergyman Urges Government to Widen Corruption Probe And Avoid Political Bias.
As the government under President John Dramani Mahama continues its efforts to combat corruption and recover alleged misappropriated funds, Rev. Jocun Baah, Founder and Leader of the Church of Gethsemane in Kumasi has called for impartiality and transparency in the process.
The clergyman emphasized that the fight against corruption must not be limited to officials of the previous administration alone but also extended to all individuals regardless of political affiliation who have contributed to the economic woes of the country.
Speaking in an interview, Rev. Jocun Baah lauded the government’s initiative to retrieve the stolen funds and utilize them for economic growth.
He acknowledged the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, particularly those who have allegedly abused their positions of power.
However, he cautioned against a selective approach that focus solely on appointees of the Akuffo Addo regime.
While it has become clear that some appointees in the Akuffo Addo regime misused and abused their offices, they alone must not be targeted for probe, Rev. Jocun Baah stated.
As a human society, no one can describe himself as a saint,, the clergy indicated.
He further emphasized that the current administration despite being only six months in power, is not immune to potential corruption. Rev.
The man of God oplned that some current appointees might already be engaging in activities that violate the laws of the country.
Therefore, he urged President Mahama to broaden the scope of the corruption investigation and extend its searchlight in all holes to track down every Ghanaian whose attitude contributes to the fall of the country.
He believes that a comprehensive and unbiased approach will instill greater confidence in the President’s “Reset Ghana Policy Concept” and demonstrate a genuine commitment to eradicate corruption across all levels of the government and society.
