Courtroom choas: suspect arrested after attempting to flee in ongoing land case.

A dramatic scene unfolded today at the High Court (General Jurisdiction 9) in Accra, where a certain Mr. Emmanuel Ebo Abraham, also notoriously known as “Bobo,” was arrested after attempting to flee upon seeing a key witness in a decade-long land dispute.

The case, involving Mr. Eddie, CEO of Erata Company Limited (Erata Motors), has been pending for the past ten years. Mr. Eddie claims he legally acquired the disputed land in 2011 after conducting thorough checks with the Lands Commission and obtaining the necessary documentation. However, in 2014, as he prepared to commence construction, he was served with a court order challenging his ownership.

The dispute has been contested by several individuals, including Mr. Kwadwo Agyeman, CEO of Paytell Company, along with Mr. Emmanuel Ebo Abraham (Bobo) and Mr. Kwabena Nketia. The case has also seen the involvement of Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, who has represented the opposing parties in court.

Emmanuel Ebo Abraham claims to have been given a Power of Attorney to prosecute a case in court over a land situated at East Legon and have been attending court for his “principal” under the authority of the said Power of Attorney for the past 10 years.

In a surprising turn of events, the alleged original owner(the said principal) of the land, Ex-Warrant Officer 1 (Ex-WO1) Samuel Kojo Quartey, was traced to Agona Swedru, where he has been living peacefully since retiring in 2014. Upon being contacted by the police, Mr. Quartey firmly denied any knowledge of the land in question, stating that he has never owned property in Accra or given anyone Power of Attorney to sell or claim ownership to any land or appear in any court or before any judicial body on his behalf.

Following his statement, he was invited to come to court today so as to inform the court of the fraudulent acts by Emmanuel Ebo Abraham. When Mr. Abraham saw Mr. Quartey enter the courtroom, he attempted to escape but was quickly apprehended by the police. His arrest marks a crucial development and turning point in the ongoing legal battle.

The case is set to continue on Wednesday, where further developments are expected. Mr. Eddie remains optimistic that justice will be served, especially with Mr. Quartey now supporting his claim.

“I have spent so much money on this land, and for years, I have been battling in court. Now that the truth is coming out, I am hopeful I will finally get my land back,” Mr. Eddie stated after the hearing . He is thanking the almighty God for vindicating him and also thanks his lawyer Dr. Sylvester Nyamekye, Esq. for his industry and hardwork throughout this journey.

Authorities are expected to investigate further to determine the full extent of the alleged fraudulent land sale and or acquisition.

The public awaits the court’s final ruling as the legal battle enters a critical stage.
