Elder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church Calls For Effective Law Enforcement On Environment To Scare Offenders.
The leader of the Community Service Department of the Bubuashie branch of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Accra, Elder Ohenenana Kwadwo Adu Asante has stressed the need for the government to effectively enforce the laws on the sanitation and environmental issues to help curb pandemic outbreaks in the country.
The elder observed that if the sanitation and environmental laws are rigidly enforced in the society, it would go a long way to discourage sanitation offenders who break the rules and go scot free to change from their bad attitudes.
Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive telephone interview from Accra on Sunday September 3, 2023, Elder Ohenenana Kwadwo Adu Asante observed that sanitation and environmental issues play an important role in every society, many Ghanaians treat the issues with less attention.
According to the Elder, government and religious bodies are playing their roles to promote and sustain environmental matters in the country, others tend to erode such efforts, hence the call to enforce the full laws against sanitation and environmental pollutants to enhance sanity in the system.
” To jail or punish someone who prefers to break the laws that govern the environment is not evil because in the Kingdom of God , the Creator have laws that punish law breakers” Elder Adu Asante hinted.
He stressed that good health leads to longer life and a source which promotes national development, hence sanitation and environmental issues must be seen as a collective responsibilities of all the citizens.
The elder cited a small country in Africa like Rwanda whose economy is currently leading the continent in terms of environmental promotions because the citizens abide by the rules of the sanitation and environmental policies with a strong believe that cleanliness is next to godliness and without good health life is meaningless.
In order to reverse the trend to help government and the religious bodies in their quest to fight against environmental challenges in the country, Elder Ohenenana Kwadwo Adu Asante advised Ghanaians to change their mindsets for the benefit of all.
