The management of ESM Quarry Company Limited, a mining company which operates at Buoho in the Afigya Kwabre South District in the Ashanti region have expressed disappointment about what they described as an intentional acts that are likely to breed violence among the citizens of Buoho and the company’s management
According to the management of the quarry firm, a former Npp Mp Hon Collins Ntim has allegedly taken the laws into his own hands.
The quarry company indicated that, per the laws on protection of human lives with regards to quarry operations, the demarcated area of the quarry site have been fenced by the company to help prevent people from encroachment.
The management said to their disappointment the former Member of Parliament for the Offenso North Constituency Hon Collins Ntim has unlawfully walked in to the site and without any provocation demolished the blockages and fencing areas that serve as a security barriers.
His mission was allegedly to enable him recruit people to mine for him though he has no concession at the place.
The ESM management reiterated that this current action taken by the ex – Npp Mp is paving way for others to also entering the restricted or no go areas and this is likely to cause the lives of the innocent residents.
“Collins Ntim has unlawfully destroyed our fence and has entered the restricted area with the alleged claims that his government is in power and that nobody can stop him from committing his offemce.
Apart from the health risk that is associated with the nearby residents over his trespassing behavior he is also allowing other illegal entrants to trespass too”, the management told the media.
Mr. E.Y Sarpong, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ESM Quarry Company Limited who spoke the media reiterated that the most worrying aspect of Mr. Ntim’s action is the fact that, he is paving way for criminals to broke into their offices and loot them
The management are therefore calling on the President of Ghana, the Minerals Commission and other stakeholders to intervene in the case before things get escalated.
“We may have no other option than to face Collins Ntim and his and his group squarely if they decide to harm us, hence our call for swift government intervention.
Mr. Sarpong who is shocked by the circumstances that led Mr. Ntim and his people into the no go area said, there was an urgent need for the president and other stakeholders to bring Collins Ntim to order to avoid any future violence.
