Edwin Provencal, former CEO of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), was arrested at Kotoka International Airport while trying to leave the country without authorization.
He was heading to Maputo, Mozambique, on November 10, when Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) officials detained him.
Provencal had been placed on a stop list due to ongoing investigations into alleged activities during his time at BOST, reportedly related to financial management and administrative decisions.
The arrest highlights EOCO’s efforts to hold public officials accountable and enforce travel restrictions on individuals under investigation.
The arrest sends a strong message that Ghana’s oversight agencies will take decisive action against alleged wrongdoing, regardless of position or rank.
It also emphasizes the importance of transparency and compliance with regulatory frameworks in the business and energy sectors, potentially leading to stricter internal controls within state-owned enterprises.
EOCO continues to investigate economic and organized crimes, demonstrating its commitment to accountability and good governance. As the investigation progresses, it is expected to provide clarity on accountability measures for public officeholders and governance standards in Ghana.
