Fraud Alert!: Arrest Cashpal agents over alleged cyber fraud activities in Ghana-IGP urged.

Incredible reports filtering this website from a section of Ghanaians indicates that unless the authorities open their eyes and check the legal mandates that authorize some digital lending companies to operate in the country, Ghanaians would fall prey into the hands of cyber fraud operators for a very long time to come.

And the results would be that suicide cases would be increased in the country to disrupt government attention from its developmental agenda.

Intensive probe carried out by the Connectghananews.com investigative team across the country indicates that there are some digital lending companies in the country who allegedly operate without requisite documents.

Such companies it was learnt have their apps on the Apple and google play stores respectively.

The information given on their sites are so convincing that it attracts public to download the applications to access fast online loans.

According to undisputable facts at our disposal, after using these companies applications to secure loans , the company tracks ones information and data through telephone as part of loan conditions.

The lending companies would then without the consent of the borrower, allegedly quickly credit ones account with a sum of money which accompanies with a repayment period of at least one week.

For instance if an amount of Ghc 400 is displayed on their credit notice for borrower’s attention, the company would disburse only Ghc 286 into your account and pocket the rest as a process fee the borrower has not consented the company to do so.

What looks so suspicious is that in theApple/Google play store apps these lending companies display their locations, telephone numbers and emails address, but when one tries to reach them for enquiries about how they give credit and terms of loan repayments you could hardly reach them.

It was also gathered that after one week of giving out the loan the agents of such digital lending companies would then emerge through their personal phones to demand repayment of the supposed Ghs400 which the borrower had not actually received.

The company also refuses to accept repayment of for example the Ghs 286 which they credited into ones account.

A failure to settle the amount ended up the company to use alleged threats words like you will be published on the social media platforms, will report you to the Police Cyber Crime Unit or disgrace you through your contacts lists.

One of such digital lending companies is “Cashpal App” of whose agents are allegedly cited in these unlawful financial practices in the country.

Number of Ghanaians who reported to our offices complained bitterly about the harassment they have been undergoing through the hands of the agents of this Cashpal App lending outfit.

Some of the victims narrated that after downloading their apps the online lending company credited their accounts with monies they never ask for or agreed to pay in line with loan conditions.

They stressed that the contacts and emails addresses on the apps could not be reached and their location of operations turns out to be false to mean that they are allegedly operating in a secret base.

Some of the victims have threatened police action but where to locate the operators is an issue at stake.

But as Cashpal agents allegedly continue to issue threats to demand by force loans that have not been given out, some of the victims are making contacts with the Google to ensure that Cashpal App is removed from the Google play store to safe public from alleged extortions.

The website learnt that as at November 2021 Google play store had been able to remove about 205 alleged fraudulent digital lending companies from its outfit.

Further information alleged that the operators behind these digital lending companies are mostly Nigerians who have been using suspicious software systems to operate with impunity, to the contrary to the state laws that gives mandate to citizens to operate lawful banking activities.

We are appealing to the law enforcement agencies especially the Inspector General of Police to track and arrest the agents of Cashpal so that we can come on board to make our cases, a female victim disclosed.

When this correspondent reached them on some numbers of Cashpal that the victims gave out on 0531147083/0531163442 and 0531010462 for their defence, the agents said since the borrower has received a loan from their app the person ought to pay whatever amount he or she sees on their platform since nobody put pressure on anyone to download the app to loan.

Stay tuned.
