Ghana School Feeding Program demonstrates digitization system.

As part of efforts to enhance transparency and accountability, the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has introduced a digital system to boost efficiency in its operations and the upcoming 2025/26 Caterer Procurement.

Developed by Virtual Solutions, the software was presented to the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, for her review and input on Tuesday, March 24, 2025. It is designed to streamline the caterer procurement process, track feeding activities, report on data collection at the school level, ensure timely caterer payments, and facilitate dispute resolution.

The GSFP digitization system seeks to eliminate manual inefficiencies, minimize payment delays, and enable real-time monitoring of meal distribution to beneficiary schools.

By automating these essential processes, the initiative is expected to foster fairness in caterer selection, enhance food quality supervision, and improve the programme’s overall impact.

Following the demonstration, the Minister commended the GSFP team and the consultant for the initiative, highlighting its potential to strengthen oversight and enhance service delivery. She stressed that adopting technology would help resolve persistent challenges such as delayed payments and inconsistencies in food supply.

Reaffirming the President’s vision for the GSFP, the Minister assured that schoolchildren would continue to receive nutritious meals in a timely and uninterrupted manner.

With the introduction of this system, GSFP aims to establish a more transparent and accountable framework that benefits both caterers and schoolchildren nationwide.

The software is funded by the Government of Ghana and the World Food Programme.
