Gov’t Urged To Set Up A Monitoring Team To Track Down School Heads In NAMTI Who Charge Unauthorized Fees.

Some aggrieved parents who have enrolled their children in the tertiary schools have stressed the need for the government to establish a dedicated monitoring team specifically tasked with tracking down school heads in especially the Nursing and Midwifery Training Institutes who are charging unauthorized fees, contrary to the country’s education policies.

According to some parents who spoke to the correspondent some school heads in the Nursery and Midwifery Training Institutes have been adopting schemes to to rob parents whose final year students are about to pass out.

They alleged that apart from the normal school fees and examination registration costs parents are made to pay multiple fees ranging from ghs 2,500 – ghs3,000 without official receipts, an issue that have raised concerns among parents.

A parent said now that the final year students in the Nursing and Midwifery Training Institutes are about to pass out the a Monitoring Team should immediately dispatch to such schools on fact finding missions and if school head is found wanton be brought to book.

The parents suggested that the monitoring team should consist of experienced education officials, auditors, and legal experts who are well-versed in education policies and regulations.

The team should be given the authority to conduct surprise inspections and audits of Nursing and Midwifery Training Institutes to ensure compliance with education policies.

Develop a reporting system for students, staff, and other stakeholders to report any instances of unauthorized fees being charged by school heads.

Implement strict penalties for school heads found guilty of charging unauthorized fees, including fines, suspension of their license, or even closure of the institute.

And above all allowed parents to work closely with such Institutes to ensure all time transparency, accountability and trust among parents and Ghana Education Service.
