Ibrahim Mahama’ scolds Appiah Stadium over public approach to president Mahama.

By Lawrence Odoom.

Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has publicly criticized Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium, for the way he approaches President John Dramani Mahama in public. The incident, captured in a viral video, has sparked conversations about respect, protocol, and access to high-profile leaders.

In the footage, Ibrahim Mahama, who is the younger brother of President Mahama, is seen arriving at a public event when he encounters Appiah Stadium in the crowd. During their brief interaction, Ibrahim Mahama expresses his disapproval of Appiah Stadium’s manner of engaging the President, telling him, “It is not nice.”

Due to loud background music and noise from the cheering crowd, parts of the conversation were difficult to hear. However, Ibrahim Mahama’s message was clear—he was not pleased with Appiah Stadium’s persistent and aggressive approach to the President in public spaces.

This is not the first time Appiah Stadium has had issues with security while trying to meet President Mahama. Just days earlier, at the funeral of the late Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Arnold Quainoo, on February 7, 2025, at Burma Camp, military and police officers reportedly blocked him from getting close to the President. Despite this, he managed to reach the presidential vehicle, where a staff member briefly engaged him.

Appiah Stadium is well known for his unwavering support for President Mahama, frequently praising him in public and on social media. However, some people believe that his enthusiastic and sometimes forceful attempts to engage the President and other top officials could be seen as a breach of protocol or even a security risk.

While Appiah Stadium has enjoyed a close relationship with the Mahama family, Ibrahim Mahama’s recent rebuke suggests that even strong allies must follow proper decorum when interacting with the President. His comments serve as a reminder that loyalty and admiration should be expressed in a respectful and orderly manner.

As this discussion continues, many are watching to see if Appiah Stadium will change his approach following Ibrahim Mahama’s public warning. Whether he will take the advice seriously or continue as he has remains to be seen.
