He referenced the conviction of Sedinam, the former CEO of MASLOC, who was found guilty in court for embezzling public funds. Bempah questioned why someone like Ablakwa, who claims to be a strong anti-corruption advocate, has not taken action in this clear-cut case. “Here is a person convicted for stealing from the state. If you’re serious about tackling corruption, start with her,” Bempah declared.
In addition, Bempah criticized the government for only pursuing politically convenient corruption cases. He expressed concern that the most critical instances of wrongdoing are often ignored, which undermines the legitimacy of the entire anti-corruption effort.
He also called for renewed investigations into the Airbus corruption scandal linked to the Atta Mills government, alleging that the case has been swept under the rug. Bempah highlighted that even former President Mills saw reason to establish a probe into the issue, further validating the need to revisit it in the name of transparency and justice.
