Kofi Akpalo, known for his provocative and often controversial public statements, sparked national backlash after making remarks that many have described as insensitive and inflammatory.

His comments, which circulated widely on social media and were featured in a video on Daily Updates TV’s YouTube channel, were seen by critics as disrespectful to the late minister and potentially harmful to public order.

Sources close to the Electoral Commission suggest that the directive to Jean Mensa came from top-level authorities who viewed Akpalo’s statements as a violation of Ghana’s political and moral standards. The controversy has reignited debate about the EC’s role in regulating political speech and the boundaries of free expression in Ghana’s democracy.
