Former Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong, has made shocking claims, asserting that MPs who joined him in supporting the victims of the Adum market fire are currently facing intimidation.
Speaking at the NPP headquarters, Agyapong denounced the hypocrisy within the party, pointing out that while leaders call for solidarity, their actions foster division.
He spotlighted that MPs who publicly support specific candidates are being threatened, whereas others can express their backing without repercussions.
“I continue to advocate for peace, but during my trip to Kumasi, the MPs who accompanied me received threatening phone calls. If this pattern persists, achieving unity will remain out of reach,” he cautioned.
Agyapong stressed that unless there is fairness and justice, the NPP will not succeed in upcoming elections, even if “Jesus Christ” were to lead the party.
He asserted that genuine unity must be founded on equity for the party to reclaim power in 2028.
As a demonstration of his commitment, Kennedy Agyapong contributed 1 million cedis to help settle salary debts owed to party workers.
He mentioned that financial difficulties are typical for opposition parties, but expressed disappointment that the NPP is experiencing struggles so soon after losing power.
His donation, he stated, was intended to support the administration during these challenging times.
Moreover, Ralph Agyapong confirmed that Kennedy Agyapong is gearing up to run in the NPP’s upcoming presidential primaries for the 2028 elections.
He noted that the internal dynamics of the party have turned in Kennedy’s favor, greatly enhancing his prospects.
Agyapong’s appeal for fairness, unity, and strategic planning establishes the groundwork for his political aspirations and the future of the NPP.
