Controversial US-based Ghanaian journalist and political commentator, Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor, has returned to Ghana to confront an arrest warrant issued against him, setting the stage for a legal showdown at the Supreme Court.
His arrival has reignited political tensions, especially after Taylor released a video claiming to expose the judge behind the warrant as having ties to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The warrant, issued several months ago in relation to a contempt of court case, has been the subject of widespread debate. Critics of the decision argued that it was politically motivated due to Taylor’s harsh critiques of the NPP government and its officials.
Supporters of the ruling party, however, maintained that Taylor had crossed legal and ethical boundaries with his outspoken media platform, Loud Silence Media.

In a defiant tone upon his arrival, Taylor told reporters that he was ready to face the judiciary and expose the rot within it.
He accused the judge who issued the arrest warrant of acting on political instructions rather than judicial independence.
According to Taylor, the judge has deep-rooted connections with senior members of the NPP and was allegedly involved in past political cases favoring the government.
Shortly after touching down, Taylor released a video in which he detailed what he claimed were documented links between the judge and the NPP. The video included photos, event footage, and leaked communication suggesting partisan leanings.

He vowed to submit this evidence at the Supreme Court to challenge both the legitimacy of the warrant and the neutrality of the judicial process.
Legal experts are divided. Some argue Taylor is simply using political theatrics to avoid legal consequences, while others believe he is highlighting real concerns about the judiciary’s independence.
His legal team has already filed a motion to quash the warrant, citing constitutional violations and bias.
