KUMASI: 150 MW K1TPP COMMISSIONED TO START OPERATION
The Kumasi one thermal power plant which was formerly called the Ameri power plant which was situated in Atuabo in the Western region of Ghana has been relocated to the Ashanti region.
The decision was champion by the Energy Minister Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh member of parliament for Manhyia North constituency and also minister for energy and the Volta River Authority.
The thermal plant was commissioned on 17th April, 2024 in Anwomaso, Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
According to President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, K1TPP will drastically reduce the persistent power fluctuation in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo used the occasion to commend Asantebene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, the Energy Minister Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, VRA, Gridco and Nananom of Anwomaso traditional Council for their enormous contribution towards the relocation of the thermal power plant to Kumasi.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mathew Opoku Prempeh asserted that the 150MW facility will boost electricity power supply in the middle and northern belt of Ghana most especially the Ashanti region.
