In a worrying statement that has sent ripples through Ghana’s religious landscape Apostle Kwaku Appiah, Head Pastor of Faith Outreach Ministries in Kumasi has rebuked certain Ghanaian clergymen who adorn themselves with the titles of Bishop and Prophet.
According to Apostle Appiah these individuals are allegedly not divinely appointed shepherds of God but rather magicians operating under the cover of the Holy Scriptures with the ultimate aim of discrediting and destroying the Kingdom of God.
Apostle Appiah’s strong pronouncement come in response to what he describes it as the alarming proliferation of fortune telling and deceptive prophecies within the priesthood today.
He lamented a scenario where one can easily put on the cassock and call himself as a pastor while the person knows from his heart that he has no call from God.
He indicated that these self proclaimed Bishops and Prophets often resort to performing false wonders and miracles to deceive people driven by a desire to proclaim authority, power and supremacy to glorify themselves instead of God.
The Apostle pointed out that such pastors are typically found in singular churches, seemingly unfazed by their conduct which he contended is contrary to the true word of God.
He further observed that these individuals often project an air of ownership over Ghana believing that their supposed spiritual insights grant them the ability to reveal every secret in the country.
Apostle Appiah’s primary concern also lies in the diversion from the core tenets of the gospel that saves souls.
He noted that giving directions (meaning in local dialect as Akwanjyire) prosperity and goodness sermons have become their primary focus diverting from the message of salvation.
He cautions the society to fear and treat these alleged criminal pastors with their adulterated sermon, drawing a parallel to Lucifer who always pretends as an Angel of light and lead innocent souls astray.
While acknowledging that wonders, miracles, and prophecies are indeed exist in the Bible Apostle Appiah vehemently stated that the actions of many so called prophets and Bishops in Ghana contradict the true prophecies that the Bible talks about.
He urged Ghanaians to exercise discernment emphasizing the importance of studying the conduct of those who claim pastoral authority beyond merely their outward adherence to the Bible.
He posed a question: Why all of us Ghanaians don’t see magicians on the streets but rather we see what magicians, idol worshippers and traditional priests practice in our churches today?
The Apostle specifically addressed the phenomenon of political pastors citing the recent Npp primaries and the victory of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He highlighted the emergence of clear false prophecies claiming the NDC will defeat Bawumia in the 2028 elections, attributing Bawumia’s victory to spiritual impediments.
Apostle Appiah encouraged Ghanaians to dismiss such shallow prophecies with contempt asserting that God has not sent them. Instead he believes these pronouncements are part of an agenda to instill fear for cheap political popularity or an agenda known to such self styled prophets and Bishops.
Apostle Kwaku Appiah’s declaration serves as a stark warning to the Ghanaian populace to critically examine the spiritual leaders they follow, urging them to seek authenticity and truth in an increasingly complex religious environment.
