Meet two handsome brothers of president John Dramani Mahama

Two elder brothers of President John Dramani Mahama made a rare public appearance in Accra on Friday, 27th June, 2025.

They were seen attending the funeral service of Madam Dorah Okyere Akosah, who was the mother-in-law of their sister, Hawa Mahama Agyemang.

The two senior brothers, Alfred Abdulai Mahama and Peter Mahama, were at the ceremony to support their sister during this time of loss. Even though they are related to two of Ghana’s most famous figures—President John Mahama and businessman Ibrahim Mahama—they usually stay away from public events. That’s why many people were surprised and happy to see them at the funeral.

President John Mahama himself was unable to attend the funeral because he was busy with official duties outside the country. However, many other important people were there. These included Ibrahim Mahama, former First Lady Lordina Mahama, Communications Minister Sam Nartey George and his wife Vera, and veteran politician Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe. Popular journalist Kofi Adoma Nwanwani’s wife, Nana Abena Etruba I, was also seen at the service.

When Alfred and Peter Mahama arrived at the venue, they greeted family members and traditional leaders. They were seen smiling and having a friendly chat with Nyaho-Tamakloe before taking their seats for the ceremony. Their presence meant a lot to their sister and the entire family of the late Madam Dorah.

During the event, Ibrahim Mahama was seen in a serious moment where he scolded a mourner who had waited outside the church just to welcome him. Ibrahim did not appreciate the gesture and asked the man why he didn’t stay inside with the others.

A video from the event showing the Mahama brothers warmly engaging with mourners has gone viral, with many Ghanaians commenting on their appearance. Some described them as “handsome” and praised them as the senior brothers of the President.
