Daniel Chapo, the candidate of Mozambique’s ruling Frelimo Party for the presidential election scheduled for 9 October, on Thursday promised to fight against corruption and terrorism if he wins since these two phenomena hinder development.
On his second day of campaigning in the central province of Zambézia, Chapo stressed at a campaign rally in the municipality of Alto Molocue that corruption and terrorism obstruct the country’s development at all levels, especially the economy.
“I want to talk about corruption. Corruption is the same as the terrorism that happens in Cabo Delgado. The state allocates resources to guarantee the fight against terrorism, so we have to put an end to terrorism in Cabo Delgado so that, with these resources, we can build schools, hospitals and other infrastructures here in the district and throughout the country”, he said.
“Corruption must end because it is an evil that hinders development. Corruption makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. I will lead a government based on combating corruption in the management of public affairs”, he added
